Underhill Update Blog

We hit the ground running on Monday afternoon with 42 Jr. Higher’s from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Puyallup, WA. This group has been coming to Bighorn every summer for the last 8 years and it is always good to have them here. The amazing thing about this group is how they purposefully use their time here at camp as a kickoff for their year. They bring out parents and leaders who will be involved with the kids when they head back home and join in on the adventures and experiences the kids are going through. If you ask me this is a great way to get to know new students.

As program director much of my responsibility entails making sure that my staff (Facilitators and TAC’s – Technical Adventure Coordinator’s) are prepared and ready to do their jobs. We place an emphasis on pouring into the campers, serving and coming alongside them and loving them where they are at. In order to do this it is important that we as a staff our being poured into ourselves. So there is much encouragement and guiding that I find myself doing these days. I am recognizing the need to point my staff back to God as they teach and lead the camper’s that God brings us. It is in Him that we are able, and ultimately we must trust Him to work in ways that we cannot. I am very proud of the work that my team has done so far this camp and consider it a priviledge to be in this position working and directing them. God is good and He is doing some amazing things in both our staff and campers lives.

Well, I have finally linked this blog to the main page, so I thought I should get a post on to the blog so people won’t keep asking when are you going to do something with your web site???  So here is my first post, Lord willing the first of many that will help keep you informed and up to date on life here in beautiful western Montana.
